Why Metrocycle?

Metrocycle delivers dependable mechanical performance for general-purpose industrial applications while serving as a powerhouse for your organisation’s environmental and sustainability targets. By transforming locally collected end-of-life tyre rubber into premium sheeting, Metrocycle lowers carbon footprints, prevents landfill waste, and helps you achieve ambitious green procurement goals.

The Metrocycle Sustainability Advantage: Why Recycled Rubber Wins

1. Prevents Waste Disposal Emissions & Eliminates Landfill Impact

Conventional rubber disposal creates severe environmental hazards, including toxic leachate and soil pollution. Metrocycle gives waste rubber a valuable second life through circular material use:

  • Avoids Landfill & Incineration Impacts: Diverts scrap tyres and industrial rubber from landfill and burning, directly cutting toxic emissions.
  • Reduces Soil Contamination Risk: Prevents lamellar leachate and hazardous breakdown by-products from leaching into soil and groundwater.
  • Reduces Waste Carbon Burden: Supports circular economy principles by keeping durable polymer resources in continuous active use rather than discarding them.
  • Gives Rubber a Second Life: Transforms end-of-life tyres into durable, functional commercial rubber sheets.

2. Local Feedstock Shortens Carbon Transport

Global supply chains for virgin rubber rely heavily on long-distance ocean shipping. Metrocycle minimises logistics emissions by localising the supply chain:

  • Local Waste Tyre Collection: Sourced from regional waste tyre and rubber streams, ensuring a reliable local feedstock supply.
  • Shorter Logistics Distance: By manufacturing close to feedstock sources, overall transportation mileage is drastically cut.
  • Less Ocean Freight Emissions: Eliminates the heavy intercontinental container shipping footprint associated with virgin natural rubber imports.
  • Lower Transport Footprint: Dramatically reduces Scope 3 supply chain emissions across road and sea transport.

3. Supports Your Corporate Carbon Reduction Goals

Specifying Metrocycle delivers measurable, verifiable environmental savings that strengthen your corporate sustainability reporting:

  • Massive Carbon Savings: Save 1.5 to 2.4 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of recycled rubber used compared to virgin rubber processing.
  • Supports Green Procurement: Easily integrates into sustainable sourcing policies, ESG frameworks, and environmental management systems.
  • EU Carbon Compliance & Low-Carbon Certification: Designed to help organisations meet stringent low-carbon regulatory requirements and corporate compliance frameworks.
  • Audit-Ready Ledgers: Material usage directly counts toward your organisation’s carbon reduction records and sustainability ledgers.
  • Versatile Sustainable Applications: Easily manufactured into recycled rubber sheetsconveyor belt impact barsmud flaps & buffer strips, and loading mats.

4. How It’s Made: The Closed-Loop Recycling Process

Metrocycle is manufactured using a rigorous recycling and refinement process that turns discarded rubber into dependable commercial sheeting:

  1. Waste Rubber Collection: End-of-life tyres and industrial scrap rubber are gathered locally and inspected for grading.
  2. Shredding & Cleaning: The rubber is mechanically shredded into uniform crumb while contaminants—such as steel wire, textile fibres, and surface debris—are thoroughly cleaned and extracted.
  3. Vulcanisation & Sheeting: The clean recycled rubber crumb is compounded with an Economy Grade NR/SBR blend and precision-vulcanised under heat and pressure to form dense, uniform, high-durability rubber sheets.
  4. Finished Recycled Rubber Products: Formed into smooth sheets, slitted buffer strips, impact bars, and die-cut gaskets ready for industrial service.
